ABOUT HUMAN SERVICES BEHAVIORAL HEALTH OF JEFFERSON COUNTY
Jefferson County Human Services department strives to make sure all citizens have the opportunity to access effective and comprehensive human services in an integrated and efficient manner, in order to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families living in Jefferson County. WHAT YOU WILL DO
The department is looking for an Accounting Specialist to perform accounting tasks for Jefferson County Human Services Admin Team.

SOME ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be successful in this role by completing the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Prepares and monitors a variety of billing and collections systems to ensure numerous programs (such as Mental Health, CSP, CCS, EMH, CLTS, and Case Management) are billed to numerous insurances, including Medicaid, Medicare, and HMOs, in accordance with State and Federal laws.  Maintains other Human Services balances, crediting/offsetting balances for Medicaid payments received on behalf of the consumer.
  • Analyzes and reconciles daily financial activity records to ensure proper billing and recording.
  • Reconciles deposits received from Billing Management against all checks and credit card payments received and determines the account(s) to post the payments.
  • Monitors overdue accounts, notifies client of delinquent accounts by mail or phone, and refers accounts to State Collection when necessary.
  • Maintains client liability balances, provides customer service regarding collection issues, processes and reviews account adjustments, resolves client discrepancies, and prepares paperwork for refunds.

Requirements:
Associate degree with two years' experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from a college or university; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Wage & Benefits
$23.42 - $30.12/ hour based on candidate’s successful experience and qualification.
