Huntsman is seeking an Import and Export Representative supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in The Woodlands, Texas. This position will report to the Director Supply Chain.

Job Scope

As an Import/Export Coordinator, you will operate our international shipping processes. The successful candidate will utilize their relationships, experience, problem solving, and analytical skills to satisfy customer requirements. Heavy communications with both internal and external customers. Investigate and resolve problem shipments. You will be the primary liaison between overseas affiliates, manufacturing plants, supply chain, freight forwarders and brokers through direct coordination with those departments to ensure a high level of performance in the movement of cargo. Arrange outbound and inbound international cargo/freight shipments from start to finish. You will support the International team with freight management functions for the Polyurethanes Division within Huntsman involving import and export aspects of international transportation be it air, land, or sea. This position provides solid resources to build, adhere, and deliver service to international and external customers.

As the Import and Export Representative you will:

  • Execute Routine Task Accountabilities: Continuous use of SAP in the Shipping and Transportation Module to include delivery creation, shipment creation, and shipment planning. Working with outside freight forwarders regarding ocean booking requests for both Import and Export shipments. Entering data in SAP as required to ensure correct information is maintained for booking details and documentation requirements.
  • Track and Trace: In areas where record keeping is necessary for track and trace purposes, candidate will be required to update the appropriate areas with certain information regarding a shipment.
  • Fulfill Responsibilities: Support the division's requirements by ensuring orders are shipped or received in time to meet requested delivery dates. Ensure all customs entries are filed on imports, and copies of shipping documents are distributed by required deadlines.
  • Problem Solve and Investigate: Problem solving in a deadline driven operation involving different countries, time zones and cultures. Track and trace shipments, researching and resolving any issues regarding billing or shipping discrepancies.
  • Exception Management Adaptability: Ability to resolve problems not encountered before with no clear instructions on how to resolve, but there is willingness to find solution and conclude.
  • Meet Regulatory and Compliance Standards: Has a key role in ensuring that the company is compliant with International Trade Agreements and Customs Legislation.
  • Participates in High Performance Team Culture: Participates in team meetings and exchanges information with the team with respect and trust to promote unity. Backs up other team members and maintains an organized workspace. Plans and coordinates vacation and time off with team and management to ensure workload is covered and team can operate efficiently.

Required Qualifications:

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

  • Demonstrated success in the above key accountabilities and responsibilities.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A bachelor's degree and/or a minimum of 3+ years of related experience in ocean and air export order processing and forwarding, import brokerage, or execution of international logistics.
  • Working knowledge of Freight Forwarder or Brokerage Operations including the following: IATA, NVOCC, FMC, 49 CFR hazardous regulations, basic import/export regulations (AES), clearance procedures, and SDS Sheets.
  • Understanding the preparation of IMO forms, and various hazardous cargo documentation.
  • Understanding of Import and Export Cargo Shipping Instructions, Export Clearance Instructions, Certificates of Origin, Shipping Invoices, Bill of Ladings, as well as other relevant transportation documentation is a requirement.
  • Knowledge of Duty Drawback Customs and Border Protection program.
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft office products especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • High ability to organize, multitask, and prioritize.
  • A working knowledge of SAP is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of banking procedures for letters of credit and draft collections is a plus.
  • Recent 49 CFR Hazardous Certification is a plus.
