What You'll Do:

This position will support patient care by providing a clean and safe environment in Patient Care Units. Assist in daily activities of patient care operations. Duties include housekeeping, inventory and stocking duties, and cleaning of equipment. Participate in Continual Service Readiness (CSR) activities to maintain the environment according to regulatory standards. Additionally, assist patients, family members and/or visitors with movement from inpatient floors and throughout the hospital.

How You'll Do It:

  • Understands and satisfies the supply and equipment needs of the patient care unit by maintaining department supplies and equipment needed for patient care. Ensures equipment and supplies are stored appropriately and restocks deficiencies as needed. Cleans equipment and supplies after use.

  • Checks expiration dates of products located on par level locations of patient care areas.

  • Transports patients/visitors throughout Children's Hospital of Wisconsin, Uses safe transport methods to include proper choice of transport vehicle and follows isolation guidelines

  • Provides immediate aid to patients in medical crisis during transport. Notifies nearest nursing or medical staff personnel for assistance.

  • May transport lab specimens and performs other duties as required or necessary.

  • Reports any deficiencies or unsafe equipment to the Charge Nurse immediately. Utilizes organizational system for service requests to replace or repair items.

Requirements:

  • CPR certification obtained within 90 days of hire - Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers through American Heart or American Red Cross is required.

  • High School graduate or Certificate of General Educational Development (GED) or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED).

Schedule Details: .7 FTE (1100-1900 shift)

Unit Description: West 9 is a 24-bed acute care unit. The patient focus is general surgery, burns and urology. Nurses may also care for medical patients with varying diagnoses. General med during viral season/ appendicitis, abdominal.
