SummaryAn excellent opportunity for a talented, ambitious, detail-oriented, structural engineer with steel design experience and great people skills to join our growing team in suburban Milwaukee. In this position you will collaborate with and be an integral part of a team that designs and manufactures complex structures for the logistics, e-commerce, and material handling industry, helping to move goods and services around the world.

Working within a highly collaborative team, this position works with sales, estimating, design, detailing, and manufacturing to produce preliminary and final construction documents, assemble project specifications, incorporate revisions based on customer input, and perform construction administration activities.

In our team-oriented, integrated office environment you get the opportunity to work closely with team members on challenging projects in a fun, collaborative atmosphere. This position will be based at our office at 5487 S Westridge Drive in New Berlin, WI 53151. In office, local candidates preferred but fully remote candidates will be considered.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Review applicable codes and interpret design criteria to generate innovative solutions for the unique challenges of each project.
  • Perform structural analysis and assemble structural calculations.
  • Develop construction drawings and details.
  • Assemble project specifications.
  • Coordinate with the design and detailing teams to produce preliminary and final construction documents and fabrication drawings.
  • Review and confirm documents conform to MiTek and manufacturing standards, including review of constructability.
  • Incorporate revisions as required.
  • Perform construction administration activities, as needed.
  • Provide support for manufacturing, as needed.
  • Respond to questions from customers, field personnel, and manufacturing, as needed.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Must have a BS or MS degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering with a Structural Emphasis, or Architectural Engineering with a Structural Emphasis.
  • Licensed as a professional or structural engineer.
  • A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in the design and analysis of steel structures.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience with the design of a wide variety of materials such as steel, concrete, wood, and masonry.
  • Experience with a variety of structural analysis software packages. Ideal candidate will have experience with SAP 2000.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office applications
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Tekla a plus.
  • Knowledge of building codes, design and construction standards, and efficient construction techniques, specifically for steel structures.
  • Ability to read and understand construction documents in both 2D and 3D.
  • A highly motivated, proactive approach with a willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • The ability to take on multiple assignments and prioritize based on customer needs.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work in a team environment to find the best solution for each project.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt to different personalities and management styles.
