Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer will be the technical expert in castings (steel, cast iron, ductile iron, brass, bronze, aluminum, stainless) for the Global Supplier Quality function. You will work with global suppliers and internal stakeholders to execute the Global Supply Chain strategy. You will lead supplier audits/qualifications, facilitate design transfer meetings, review FAIs/PPAPs, ensure compliance, lead supplier corrective actions (SCAR), and drive supplier development plans where needed.

Key Accountabilities

  • Perform supplier audits to qualify new suppliers and evaluate existing suppliers.

  • Set submission requirements for, and evaluate, supplier PPAP submissions.

  • Train and mentor suppliers on quality tools (control plans, FMEAs, capability analysis, Gage R&R).

  • Lead and facilitate design transfer reviews between Zurn and suppliers.

  • Work with cross-functional teams and suppliers to resolve quality issues.

  • Support communication between supply chain team and individual business units.

  • Manage and improve the SCAR process.

  • Support advanced product quality planning (APQP) activities.

  • Monitor supplier performance metrics and lead development plans as needed.

  • Support QA Technician activities as needed.

  • Coach team members on quality and problem-solving processes/tools.

  • Work with local Business Units Engineering, Purchasing & Quality teams on issue resolution.

  • Manage and support continuous improvement project activities with suppliers as required.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in materials engineering or related technical field

  • Minimum of 1 years of related experience.

  • MS Office (Word / Excel / Outlook/SharePoint).

  • Working knowledge of 8D / 5Why problem solving.

  • Up to 30% or more Domestic travel and 5% International travel required.

Preferred:

  • Technical knowledge and experience with castings and foundries (sand, die, gravity, etc.).

  • Engineering knowledge of metal alloys (steel, cast iron, ductile iron, brass, bronze, aluminum, stainless).

  • Plating and Powder Coating knowledge.

  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, tolerances, and GD&T.

  • Lean / Six Sigma green, black or master black belt.

  • Working knowledge of measurement equipment (calipers, micrometers, CMM, etc.).
