The Signals Exploitation Systems Group combines signal processing, statistical modeling, systems engineering, and radio frequency (RF) hardware and software development to build mission-critical systems for the nation's special operations and intelligence communities. We work in an environment where ideas move quickly from applied research into optimized implementations designed for a variety of platforms and environments. Our team draws on backgrounds in electrical and computer engineering, computer science, and physics, creating solutions for geolocation of signals, RF communications, RF and embedded systems designs, audio processing, and human language technologies

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Test Technician to join our research team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical testing and troubleshooting, along with a passion for supporting groundbreaking research projects. As an Electrical Test Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of electrical systems and equipment used in our research activities.

As an Electronics Test Technician you will...

  • Conduct digital and RF electrical testing, calibration, and validation of microelectronic printed circuit boards and systems.
  • Use prior working knowledge of communications-related test equipment, such as multimeters, oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, to troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues.
  • Debug and repair electrical components, including printed circuit boards, electrical assemblies, sensors, and wiring harnesses.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical and software engineers to develop and implement testing plans, protocols and procedures.
  • Have a working knowledge of computers, and have the ability to operate low-level custom test software from both graphical user interfaces and command line interfaces
  • Have the ability to enter and maintain accurate digital records of test results, maintenance activities, and equipment specifications.
  • Have a working understanding of electronics project lifecycles, to include the importance of tracking rework, hardware variants and software versions.
  • Assist in the procurement of electrical components and spare parts as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and institute's protocols.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in electrical testing techniques.
  • Support device testing at local and government sites/ranges as needed
  • Assist with laboratory/facility management functions such as security administration, calibration, and equipment management

Qualifications

You meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you...

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have at least 5 years of relevant experience as an Electrical Test Technician or similar role
  • Have a solid understanding of electronics laboratory test equipment, electrical systems, circuits, and components
  • Have the ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team and possess strong interpersonal, speaking, and technical writing skills
  • Ability to work on small teams using varying levels of documentation
  • Ability to document test data using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Are willing and able to occasionally travel and work extended hours in support of technical tasks
  • Are able to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by start date, and can ultimately obtain a Final Secret clearance. If selected, you will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you...

  • Have an Associate's degree, certification, or other education in electronics/engineering
  • Can interpret electronic schematics and printed circuit board layout
  • Have experience with programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python) for test automation
  • Have experience with data acquisition systems and software
  • Have experience with working in a research or laboratory environment
  • Hold an active Top Secret Level security clearance. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
