Job Summary:

The Safety Coordinator is a subject matter expert on regulatory standards who is responsible for day-to-day safety functions of assigned facilities. The Coordinator manages the Environment of Care/Safety program and serves as the Environment of Care/Safety content expert. This role is responsible for the Safety Surveillance Program in an effort to minimize risks. Has the authority to intervene and stop unsafe practices and is responsible for determining correction actions necessary to maintain a safe Environment of Care to meet regulatory compliance. The Coordinator evaluates and researches safety issues and concerns to determine appropriate regulatory compliance.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

A minimum of 3 years of project management, safety, or related work experience is required. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a healthcare environment is preferred.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Health Administration, Environmental Safety, or a related field is required. Equivalent combination of coordination and/or project management experience and education may be substituted for formal education.

TRAINING DESCRIPTION:

Must complete Joint Commission Environment of Care Base Camp and Joint Commission Exploring the Life Safety Chapter Training. In addition, the following coursework must be completed within one year of date of hire: ICS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System, ICS-200 ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents, and IS-800 An Introduction to the National Response Framework.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Strong Program Management Skills required along with the ability to organize and direct tests of fire alarm systems. Experience in Microsoft Office Suite Products and strong typing skills are required.
