Job Description
Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) invites applications for a Part-Time Adjunct Clinical Lecturer within Long-Term Care / Assisted Care / Medical-Surgical to join our School of Nursing team in Fall 2024. MSOE School of Nursing provides an experiential education for students in the BSN program that is focused on developing individuals who are leaders of character, responsible professionals, passionate learners and value creators. We are in search of a MSN prepared individual who will be primarily responsible for teaching students in a long-term care or assisted care clinical setting with the ability to flex to an Acute Care clinical setting on a medical/surgical unit. They will be responsible for evaluation of objective and subjective student work and providing meaningful feedback. This individual may also provide instruction through simulation and may provide some classroom instruction. They will assist students in developing their critical thinking, clinical judgement and nursing skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with students in the clinical setting using evidence-based best practice in performance of skills
  • Help students to develop clinical reasoning and critical thinking in the clinical setting
  • Encourage appropriate interprofessional activity and effective communication
  • Provide effective and efficient feedback to students throughout the semester
  • Communicate effectively with course coordinator and appropriate resources as needed
  • Evaluate student performance using the established Clinical Evaluation Tool
  • Participate in scheduled simulations
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the Course Coordinator

Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the set-up and take down of simulations
  • Participate in simulation training
  • Participate in required training of clinical sites
  • Potential participation in classroom instruction
Qualifications
  • MS in Nursing; will consider BSN preparation if currently enrolled in MSN program
  • Recent work experience in the LTC/Medical/Surgical setting
  • Current and unencumbered Nursing License
  • Current CPR – BLS Certification
  • Knowledge and proficiency with basic psychomotor skills
  • Effective communication in a variety of forms (verbal, e-mail, text, phone, some social media)
  • Effective at problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • Organization
  • Collaborates well with others
