Job Summary
The Director of Security Operations serves as the lead manager of the security operations section of the Department.
The Director of Security Operations reports directly to the Chief of Security and is expected to collaborate in developing and maintaining active security prevention programs, community policing objectives, directed patrol priorities, investigative processes, positive community relations, and accuracy of relevant departmental records.
The Director of Security Operations is responsible for overseeing core security operations which includes assigning, coordinating and directing security patrol resources, ensuring through the Campus Security Supervisors that appropriate field supervision occurs and that the goals and the mission of the department are met. The Director of Security Operations deploys and oversees the allocation of security resources, so that patrol section responses to calls for service are handled in a timely fashion and with a professional demeanor.
The Director of Security Operations is responsible for ensuring that all members of the department under their command are effectively trained, prepared and supported to perform their duties to protect the Institute community by employing the practices and philosophy of community policing and exceptional community service.
The Director of Security Operations will be expected to take a limited leadership role in event planning, incident command, crisis preparation and response and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with key members of campus, local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. The Director of Security Operations generally supervises individuals at the level of Security Shift Supervisor & Duty Officer.
The Director of Security Operations may be required to workday or night hours and weekends, as well at major events such as Commencement, Orientation, athletic events, concerts, parties, and other events, when required. The Director of Security Operations shall effectively perform other related duties as assigned.
The Director of Security Operations must remain familiar with current issues relating to campus security and public safety, as well as training needs, crime prevention, investigatory practices, and specific supervisory and patrol functions.
This is an Essential Reporting position. In the event of an emergency on campus, an employee designated as essential reporting has essential job skills that are needed for response and recovery and is expected to report to Campus as soon as possible.

$127,700 - $149,200 Per Year
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
