Job Description

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Clinical Pharmacist Specialist - Emergency Services
  • Location: Naperville Illinois - Edward Campus Emergency Department
  • Full Time - Evenings
  • Hours: 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM with rotating weekends and Holidays

What you will need:

  • Clinical residency with a minimum of 2 years of clinical pharmacy practice experience required, (or) Minimum five years of clinical pharmacy practice experience
  • Illinois Registered Pharmacist License - Current or Obtained within 90 days of start date into position
  • Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross within six weeks of start date into position
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification within 90 days of start date into position

Preferred:

  • Pharm D. from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Board Certified Pharmacy Specialist

What you will do:

Responsible for the coordination of clinical pharmacy services in the emergency department to ensure optimal care outcomes. Assists in the development of pharmacy protocols and clinical workflows, as it relates to the emergency department and facilitates staff education and development with regard to these protocols and workflows, to ensure competency. Works directly with pharmacy, nursing and physician leaders to develop and maintain guidelines, policies, and protocols, as applicable. Participates in education of nurses, physicians and other ancillary staff in the emergency department. Provides support to medication reconciliation technicians to ensure accurate medication histories. Contributes to the direct care of emergency department patients as appropriate. Coordinates care with inpatient pharmacists to ensure a cohesive transition of care for patients to be admitted. Follows established policies, procedures, protocols, standards, and regulatory requirements in executing job responsibilities. Facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost-effective drug therapies.
