Job Overview

This is an onsite-hybrid job opportunity located in Milwaukee, WI

The Embedded Systems and Controls Engineer works with programming languages, techniques, methods, and architectures including hardware integration in order to effectively and efficiently solve complex software issues pertaining to mining equipment.

The position effectively interfaces software and hardware leveraging knowledge of equipment theory of operation and functionality, in order to achieve an ideal design.

Key Job Responsibilities
  • Works in a team environment, effectively voicing technical concerns, identifing potential issues, and helping in the solution process rather than act soley as an individual contributor.
  • Applies technical 'hands-on' troubleshooting skills if required to aid technicians and other personnel on new designs or equipment.
  • Researches and specifies hardware components.
  • Performs, generates, and documents software functional tests.
  • Provides technical support for manufacturing and field engineers/technicians.
  • Performs product development activities including designs, interpretations and implementation of customer specifications and documentation requirements.
  • Provides existing product line support in design activities and/or modification of hardware and software in production.
  • Conducts engineering studies for new concepts.
  • Works directly with engineers in other disciplines to solve challenges.
  • Traves 5%-10% for product development, testing, observation is required.

Qualifications/Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical or Computer Engineering preferred)
  • 1-3 years of related experience required
  • Proficient in traditional programming languages (C/C++, Python)
  • Familiar with Object Oriented Programming (OOP)
  • LabVIEW and National Instruments hardware experience highly desired
  • Proficiency with desktop and embedded versions of Windows and Linux Operating Systems at the technicallevel (OS manipulation, images, drivers, troubleshooting, etc.) preferred
  • Experience in system integration involving controls programming.
  • Ability to Integrate various off-the-shelf hardware into existing hardware and software architectures
  • Familiarity with industrial networking (managed/unmanaged switches, VPN, NAT, Routing, etc.)
  • Experience in various industrial communication protocols (RS232/422/485, TCP/IP, UDP, CANOpen, J1939, etc.)
  • Working knowledgeof Microsoft 365 Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Publisher, Outlook, OneNote).
  • Good verbal and written communication skills: ability to communicate with various audiences appropriately in presentations, reports, procedure manuals, technical correspondence, etc.
