Responsible for providing prospect identification, research, and analysis of financial and biographical information in support of gift officers and staff to determine cultivation and solicitation strategies for major gifts. Supports Prospect Development Manager to develop prospect identification, cultivation, and solicitation strategies. Provides information to help build and support existing relationships as well assist in building a pipeline of new high potential prospects for qualification. Employing a wide range of tools, organizes and analyzes information that identifies philanthropic patterns, tendencies, and relationships among individuals, corporations, and foundations. Then compiles and writes in-depth donor profiles and confidential briefing documents in order to collaborate with gift officers and staff to ensure that the Foundation's fundraising efforts are focused on the right donors for the right gifts at the appropriate times.

  • Associates degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred AND 2 years of experience in prospect and donor research OR High School diploma required; Associate's degree preferred AND 5 years of transferrable research and database management experience.
  • Demonstrates the ability and fortitude to identify unknown sources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, an attention to detail, an aptitude for logical thinking, a commitment to professional ethics, and the ability to interact with development staff as well as experience working in non-profit sector and with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Extensive computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft office software, Raiser's Edge, searching on-line databases and the Internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and meet goals in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated track record of success with the following leadership competencies: Tech Savvy, Resourcefulness, Collaborates, and Nimble Learning.
  • Demonstrated ability to summarize key findings and create actionable recommendations to appear prominently in profiles, prospect lists and other products.
  • Demonstrated awareness of how research efforts support and impact organization fundraising operations including advancing relationships and dollars raised.
  • Demonstrated ability to access and utilize Foundation CRM (Raiser's Edge) to track/store profile data.
