Overview

Cash Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator to complete turnkey project estimates for the firm. This individual will act as the estimating lead on various projects. Responsibilities include pre-bid attendance as needed, site visits, bid management, development of cost estimates, evaluation of subcontractor and supplier costs, and risk analysis. You will be supported by junior estimators performing quantity takeoff comparisons and an estimating coordinator who facilitates solicitations to subcontractors and vendors, qualification/prequalification requirements, and minority participation documentation. Our Estimating Team functions in a collaborative environment that includes support and input from our Operations Team. The ideal candidate should have proven experience in civil construction estimating. The candidate should possess an understanding of road work, excavation, underground utilities, contractual requirements, conceptual estimating, design drawings, and project specifications. The candidate should understand risk analysis and have proven estimating experience in multiple markets and geographic locations, with a preference for local Texas experience.

Location & Travel Details: This is an onsite position, based at our client site in the Austin, TX/Pflugerville, TX area. Hybrid work is a possibility on a case-by-case basis after an initial evaluation period.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare complete quantity take-offs.
  • Identify project scope for both self-perform and subcontracted work.
  • Interpret project documents to prepare clear, complete, and competitive estimates, general conditions, and bid clarifications.
  • Inform preconstruction staff of project requirements and owner directives, developing a plan to meet stated goals.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Develop value engineering solutions to meet client budgets.
  • Identify and qualify subcontractors.
  • Attend preconstruction meetings with the design team and client.
  • Fill in design gaps with assumptions that align with the engineer's intent.
  • Prepare project clarifications and bid assumptions for submission to the owner.
  • Investigate local market conditions and their impact on costs.
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate effectively.
  • Attend technical and professional meetings and seminars as necessary.
  • Establish timelines and goals for effective and timely estimate submissions.
  • Represent company vision when presenting to potential clients, detailing Cash Construction capabilities.
  • Ensure quality of services meets project requirements.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration on estimates between all disciplines and parties.
  • Provide risk and cost comparison analysis on estimates.
  • Utilize Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6 for scheduling.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent progressive work experience with 7+ years of estimating civil construction projects, or
  • 10+ years of experience in lieu of education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of heavy civil construction, specifically in earthwork, underground utilities, drainage, and street/highway construction.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with self-perform work.
  • Sound organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications.
  • Preferred experience with Agtek earthwork take-off software and HCSS Heavy Bid estimating software.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment
