  • SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER
    1. Qualifications:
    1. Educational Background: A minimum of a Masters Degree in Social Work and one (1) year ISBE approved supervised internship
    1. Certification: Valid Illinois Certification Type 73 with School Social Work endorsement
    1. Direct Supervisor: Director of Student Services, and on a daily basis the Building Principal
    1. Overview:
    1. The School Social Worker is employed over a school-year day calendar.
    1. Through use of assessment, counseling, consultation and coordination of services, School Social Workers effectively service students, parents, school and community.
    1. School Social Workers also assist school staff in developing, implementing and evaluation programs.
    1. Areas of Responsibility:
    1. Provides individual, group and/or family treatment to identified students in order to enhance success in school.
    1. Provides crisis intervention services to student, school or community.
    1. Provides consultation to teachers, administrators, parents and community agencies.
    1. Completes diagnostic evaluations on identified students in a timely manner
    1. Maintains expertise in appropriate formal Adaptive Behavior Scales.
    1. Initiates and completes Adaptive Behavior Scales on identified students.
    1. Assumes lead position on Building PPS team, as needed.
    1. Initiates linkage and maintains follow-up services to community agencies on behalf of identified students.
    1. Maintains current and professional knowledge of available community resources in order to benefit students and families.
    1. Attends IEP, parent conferences, team meetings and department meets, as indicated.
    1. Maintains and updates records of students in a timely manner as per District Policies.
    1. Maintains and completes an accurate record of expenditures per District Policies.
    1. Presents workshops and/or in-services on a variety of social work topics as the need arises.
    1. Contributes to the development of social/emotional based school curriculum.
    1. Assumes other responsibilities at the direction of Director of Student Services and/or Building Principal.
    Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually
