Generac Clean Energy Solutions is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Staff Automation Engineer to help automate next-generation renewable energy products and IoT device reliability testing. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated reliability testing for electrical systems and components. You will contribute to the reliability assurance and performance optimization of Clean Energy systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.

The ideal candidate will work a hybrid schedule out of the Waukesha, WI and report to Engineering Supervisor/Manager, with possibility of Remote option.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Architect and implement scalable in-house automation software to execute large-scale long-term test setups and procedures for electrical systems, focusing on power conversion, high voltage, inverters, PV Optimizers, electronics and IoT devices.
  • Utilize Objected Oriented Programing for test automation, data analysis, and equipment control.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose software issues, working closely with the design and development teams to identify root causes and propose solutions.
  • Develop cloud data platform for testing data and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define test requirements and specifications for new products or product enhancements.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices related to automation of test systems.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in designing automation systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong knowledge and experience in automation software development (C#/.NET 6, Python, SQL).
  • Experience with AWS, Clickhouse and MQTT protocol.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools and processes; Git, Jenkins, Maven, CircleCI.
  • Familiarity with graphical data visualization for cloud based test data management (Grafana).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and present test results and recommendations.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus.
