Job Summary: The Director Social Media will lead and oversee the company's social media strategy and execution including creating compelling content, analyzing performance and building engaged communities across corporate digital platforms. As part of the Corporate Communications team, this role will support the company's key strategies and initiatives, amplify leading brand work, provide counsel and support on issues, and infuse digital thinking with modern storytelling methods throughout company communications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies that enable social media to effectively illustrate Generac's enterprise strategy to Power A Smarter World and bring the company's culture, priorities, and products to life across key stakeholders.
  • Create engaging and high-quality content that resonates with key stakeholders.
  • Perform against key metrics including growing reach, engagement, and impact across all Generac's social media platforms.
  • Analyze social media data and metrics to measure effectiveness and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Partner with other departments (e.g., marketing, sales, customer service) to create and maintain a content calendar, ensure brand consistency and alignment across all touchpoints.
  • Partner closely with Generac's Customer Experience team to assist with customer engagement and questions via social channels.
  • Work closely with senior leaders to develop executive social media plans that aid in amplifying the company's story.
  • Stay up-to-date on social media trends and best practices, adapting the company's strategy to leverage new opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and support to other business units managing social media channels.
  • Provide counsel, support and scenario planning on social response strategies to manage issues.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
  • Design and direct the work of the functional area. Selects, coaches, and develops the team, setting objectives that align with company strategy to inspire and motivate the team. Manages organizational talent through performance management, succession planning, and development. Designs and directs processes by which team and individual performance are recognized, feedback is consistently delivered, and performance is systematically improved. Develops and/or recommends operating and capital budgets and controls expenditures within approved budget objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or applicable degree.
  • 10 years of experience managing social media platforms and strategy, preferably in a corporate or large organizational setting.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing effective social media strategies that drive reach, engagement, and impact across business objectives.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of major social media platforms and their functionalities.
  • Strong understanding of social media analytics and reporting tools.
  • Exceptional content creation skills, with the ability to craft engaging and persuasive copy, visuals, and videos.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team and collaborate with senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and multimedia communications skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend, or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
