The Senior Industrial and Manufacturing Engineer role is responsible for designing, developing, and improving manufacturing processes, work center design and ergonomics, material and information flow, business processes, and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system accuracy and functionality. The position works closely with production teams to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions to increase capability, capacity, throughput, efficiency and reduce costs. In addition to playing a critical role in Product Realization process, the role sets and maintains high standards for creative problem solving, cross-functional collaboration, change management, and demonstrating a sense of urgency to remove obstacles preventing accomplishment of established Safety, Quality, Delivery and Capacity (SQDC) metrics in the manufacturing environment. This role directly impacts our manufacturing capability and capacity and Enercon's ability to serve our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Support production schedules and the improvement plans for assigned inventory, manufacturing, assembly, and factory acceptance test, and packaging departments.
  • Lead the design and implementation of manufacturing processes that improve SQDC based performance indicators and reduce cost.
  • Regularly assess and maintain ERP master data, bills of materials, bills of operations, and methods of manufacturing for consistency, accuracy, and overall alignment with the needs of the business, while maximizing the transparency and availability of real-time status of production and customer orders.
  • Perform time studies and collect data to design, validate, or correct labor standards. Perform labor and material variance analysis and lead improvement projects to reduce variances.
  • Support Engineering, Production Planning Scheduling, Purchasing, and other cross-functional staff to design, implement. and optimize material and information flow to support our Engineer-to-Order, Make-to-Order, and Make-to-Stock operating strategies of manufacturing.
  • Perform data extraction, analysis and modeling to identify and recommend machine and labor capacity requirements, materials requirements, or general corrective actions or strategies to improve cycle time, takt time, or lead time, both to customer and internal departments.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing leadership and Purchasing to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, or contact services to maintain or improve uptime and productivity.
  • Lead the on the plant floor implementation of Engineering Changes, Corrective Actions, and New Products.
  • Lead the creation or revision of EPR methods of manufacture (Bill of Materials, Bill of Operations) to improve production status transparency, effectiveness, or inventory accuracy. Demonstrate effective change management awareness and skill to ensure changes are validated before implementation in the live ERP environment.
  • Attend or lead manufacturing department meetings, Order Status meetings, and monthly S&OP meetings when requested to communication continuous improvement or corrective action status.
  • Lead capital equipment specification writing, vendor selection, project management, including run off and approval.
  • May supervise other Engineering, Maintenance, Production Support, or Production staff.
  • May occasionally act as a back-up to production supervisors or manufacturing manager as needed during absences.
Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, with other Engineering disciplines or experience considered.
  • Seven (7) or more years of prior work experience in a production environment.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication to inform the organization on activity status and with demonstratable ability to perform effective change management is required.
  • Excellent knowledge of ERP systems is required. Epicor ERP is the most preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Visio is required.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks, DraftSight/AutoCAD for plant, work center, and fixture/tooling design activities is required.
  • Excellent data extraction, data modeling, statistical analysis, and forecasting capabilities are required.
  • Excellent ability to understand and interpret engineering drawings, technical data, and product specifications is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, justify, and manage any size improvement project involving people, manufacturing work centers, machinery, and business systems is required.
  • SME Bronze level Lean Certification or equivalent preferred, but not required.
  • May occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to move parts, materials, and product.
