Job Summary:

Reporting to a faculty leader, the Director of Healthcare at Kellogg (HCAK) is responsible for developing, directing, and executing the overall strategy for the HCAK program at Kellogg. The HCAK team supports Kellogg faculty, students, and alumni as they lead the way in the business of healthcare. The Director will facilitate collaboration and progress within HCAK, and across related fields and institutions, including in the life sciences, private equity, and entrepreneurship.

This role requires the incumbent to have strong strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and organizational leadership experience. Competencies needed include strategic and analytical problem-solving; strong executive presence; planning, decision-making and execution skills; written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; strong service orientation; collaboration with internal and external team members and associates; and experience managing individuals and teams.

Specific Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Leadership of Healthcare at Kellogg (HCAK)

* Collaborate with the Faculty Director to define and deliver on the strategic vision of the program.

* Develop and maintain productive relationships with program participants and partners.

* Create metrics on Kellogg's stature and progress as a leader in the healthcare space.

* Support administrators and department leaders across Kellogg in remaining current on the developments, offerings, and horizon for recruitment, support, and career guidance in the healthcare field.

* Manage staff supporting the program

* Collaborate with other relevant faculty-directed programs and administrative offices at Kellogg.

* Student and Prospect Student Support

* Advise individual students and student clubs with an interest in the healthcare area by directing them to internal resources, counseling on courses within the HCAK pathway, serving as an advisor to student organizations, and supporting student career queries and referrals in the healthcare sector.

Outreach and Stakeholder Engagement

* Enhance Kellogg's reputation as an academic leader in healthcare by disseminating research, publicizing Kellogg activities, speaking at industry conferences and events, and collaborating with industry leaders.

* Serves as a subject matter expert on topics germane to healthcare; maintains a network both internal and external to Northwestern which s/he mobilizes to meet strategic priorities

* Nurture a robust network of healthcare practitioners and alumni willing to serve as speakers for signature HCAK symposia, conferences, and curricular events, employment prospects, student mentors, career counselors, or subject matter experts for faculty and students, and willing to provide intelligence on new developments in the field.

* Manage relationships with local healthcare providers, medical schools, community leaders, and biopharma corporations.

* Represents Kellogg to external audiences of potential participants, partners, and supporters, working with a wide variety of clients and partners to ensure Kellogg is at the center of the healthcare community on campus, locally and globally..

* Develop and execute an events strategy for Healthcare at Kellogg in partnership with Corporate Engagement and students.

Faculty and Curricular Support

* Monitor the HCAK Pathway for updates and present recommendations to the faculty sponsors.

* Support new HCAK-affiliated faculty onboarding and course development.

* Work with faculty and learners to develop, conduct, analyze, report, and publish Kellogg healthcare research.

* Represent HCAK in its participation and research with internal and external conferences and groups.

* Nurture connections between faculty members and practitioners in support of healthcare teaching and inquiry at Kellogg.

* If there is an opportunity, design and launch new courses. If appropriate, the person could also teach these courses.

Fundraising and Alumni Relations

* Support Kellogg Alumni Relations and Development (ARD) to assess opportunities and identify prospective donors from healthcare leaders and institutions and develop these relationships.

* Engage alumni in HCAK news, career support, and other programming as appropriate.

* Support the ARD team in fundraising efforts related to the healthcare field.

* Serve as liaison with sponsors; present with ARD to prospective sponsors.

Program Administration

* Oversee administration and finances for the program.

* Analyze and implement operational efficiencies.

* Manage and develop two staff.

* Abide by Kellogg and NU policies.

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Undergraduate degree, with MBA or equivalent Advanced Degree preferred

* Eight or more years of relevant industry experience

* Experience with devising and implementing strategies and systems to achieve organizational goals and objectives.

* Leadership experience, relationship management experience, managing teams or equivalent experience.

* Exceptional presentation skills, especially to executive audiences

* Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, strong executive presence, and ability to communicate effectively with professionals at all levels.

* Strong ability to collaborate with a cross-functional team and encourage cooperation from divergent stakeholders.

* A high degree of reliability and self-direction.

* Ability to maintain confidentiality, act diplomatically, and handle difficult situations in a tactful and responsive manner

Preferred Qualifications:

* Demonstrated ability to implement programs and agenda consistent with expectations of a leading research university

* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Social Impact leaders and their trusted advisors such as bankers, accountants, consultants, lawyers, board members

* Demonstrated network and familiarity with Social Impact

Target hiring range for this position will be between $135,000 - $150,000 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Opportunities for compensated part-time teaching appointments may be considered for the right candidate.
