Position Summary:

Responsible for locating and engaging children and youth's relatives and like-kin for placement, and for recruiting and matching prospective families to children whose permanency goal includes adoption or transfer of guardianship and are without an identified permanency resource. Assesses the needs of children awaiting placement with a permanency resource and matches them with families best suited to meet each child's unique needs. Reviews case records to explore potential placement resources within the family system. Prepares and supports children for permanency through a variety of child-focused, intensive recruitment activities. Conducts a diligent search of potential permanency resource families utilizing targeted recruitment methods. Maintains regular/ongoing contact with important case collaterals, such as the caseworker, permanency consultant, foster parent, attorney, teacher, etc. Proactively engages in communication with Licensing and Placement team members and regional Public Adoptions staff to identify prospective adoptive families. Assists caseworker in facilitating pre-placement activities and supports placements made by continuously monitoring and responding to the child's and family's adjustment. Responsible for tracking and documenting targeted recruitment efforts and outcomes.

Position Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field. Child welfare or adoption experience preferred. Master's degree in Social Work or related field preferred.
  • State of Wisconsin Social Work certification preferred.
  • Requires a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, personal auto liability insurance coverage and the ability to be insured by the CHHS auto insurance carrier.
  • Must use personal vehicle to transport children, complete in-house car seat transporter training within one month of hire and re-train biannually thereafter to maintain.
  • Experience working with families of diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds strongly preferred.
  • Strong assessment skills.
  • Negotiation, problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic computer skills required. WiSACWIS experience preferred.
