The Roxelyn and Richard Pepper Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Northwestern University is searching for a full-time clinical research speech-language pathologist to join a dynamic team of clinicians and faculty as an Assistant Clinical Professor. The successful applicant will be responsible for the management and execution of daily operations related to clinical research conducted within the Swallowing Cross-System Collaborative (SCSC) lab under the leadership of Dr. Bonnie Martin-Harris. Duties of the position will primarily take place at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Northwestern's downtown Chicago medical campus within the Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery and Movement Disorders clinics with routine engagement with the CSD faculty and SCSC lab on the Evanston campus. This exciting position will provide unique opportunities for skill development and career advancement.

The SCSC uses a clinical research framework to improve the quality of life for people suffering from dysphagia. Current clinical trials conducted by Dr. Martin-Harris and her research team use state of the art technologies to study swallowing physiology and cross-system interactions of the upper aerodigestive tract. The program of research also includes computer assisted swallowing assessment and wearable sensor technologies for swallowing rehabilitation. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary team of world-renowned research scientists and clinicians to develop new diagnostic and treatment methods for enhancing patient care and quality of life.

Employment term:
A 12-month appointment beginning October 1, 2023, renewable on an annual basis.

Qualifications:
* Earned Master's, SLPD or Ph.D. in Speech-Language Pathology.
* Eligibility for Illinois SLP licensure.
* Experience in the diagnosis and management of swallowing disorders.
* Ability to think critically and broadly.
* Ability to work well both independently and with others.
* Excellent organization and time management skills.

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with:
* Modified Barium Swallowing Impairment Profile (MBSImP)
* Biomedical research
* Patients with Head and Neck Cancer
* Patients with Parkinson's Disease
* Wearable sensor technology

Duties:
* Manage and execute daily operations of biomedical research studies:
o Lead recruitment efforts by identifying and consenting participants.
o Conduct and interpret all study-related screening tools and exams.
o Implement study interventions and track participant performance.
o Manage all study related equipment and supplies.
o Manage data collection and storage.
o Train, manage, and delegate tasks to supporting study personnel and students.
o Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary:
Commensurate with experience. This position is full-time and benefits eligible. Annual merit increases will be considered based on performance. You will be eligible for funding for travel to conferences and attendance of virtual conferences on an annual basis at rates determined each year.
