Job Summary:

This Research Coordinator position supports a research group in the Chemistry Department and is a full-time position (37.5 hours), working on-site 5 days per week.

This is a one-year term position contingent upon continued funding.

Manages daily operations of a physical chemistry and biochemistry research group involving multidisciplinary teams of colleagues, sponsors & other external project stakeholders. Monitors various instrument performances, analyzes & review results, & supervises development & implementation of new protocols for spectroscopy and biochemistry studies. Assigns tasks related to lab organization, operation and safety supervises research operations. Reviews technical operations ensuring that all processes, protocols & procedures are quality controlled, & functioning up to standards and laboratory bookkeeping is followed. Tracks spending on projects, prepare and documents purchasing. Supports preparation of grant reports. Collects information for scientific papers for presentation & publication & coordinates writing., Prepares submission & of scientific papers for presentation & publication and coordinates writing submission and administration of grants. Ensures that study activities are completed by following good safety protocols and follow good practices for resources and data sharing.

Please Note: The supervisor generally provides objectives, deadlines and specific instructions but will expect independent execution if it has been previously discussed or if similar work has been executed before and if it is routine work. Work is reviewed upon completion and only occasionally to verify technical accuracy and compliance with practice, policy, and procedures. EE informs supervisor of on-going progress and/or potentially controversial matters.

EE uses an advanced knowledge of skills, methods and practices and some innovation, analysis, and reasoning to choose appropriate alternatives from among pre-defined policies and procedures to complete work that includes successive steps and involves some non-routine problems and/or decisions.

Specific Responsibilities:

Technical

* Guides and supports the execution & control of a physical chemistry and biochemistry project or research study.

* Coordinates processing & analysis of data,

* Documents new &/or revised research methodologies and procedures.

* Ensures completion of study activities per protocol

* Ascertains establishing and maintaining lab protocols, SOP's and safety protocols pretreatment.

* Guides and ascertains electronic recordkeeping in the laboratory.

* Helps Iinterviews research interns and undergraduate researchers.

* Helps in onboarding new lab members and visiting researchers.

* Establishes and organizes exit interviews and collects content for future letters by PI.

Administration

* Oversees & manages collection, maintenance, analysis & evaluation of data that will be used in grant submissions, presentations & publications.

* Ensures that information is entered correctly into databases.

* Assists PI in reviewing, analyzing, interpreting, summarizing, formatting, editing, & preparing tables, charts, graphs, progress & final reports, etc.

* Assists PI in preparing and organizing research meetings, workshops and conferences.

* Coordinates between sponsoring agencies, collaborating organizations &/or other research &/or educational institutions.

* Monitors lab inventory, including purchasing of supplies and services, ensuring that they are necessary, reasonable and project related.

* Ensures that all documents associated with current local, state, & federal regulatory guidelines, requirements, laws & research protocols are completed in a timely manner.

Finance

* Supports the negotiations with vendors, obtain quotes & arrange for demos of large equipment.

Miscellaneous

Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher degree in a major such as chemistry or biochemistry or related sciences; OR appropriate combination of education and 3 years of experience in a research setting.

* Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree in a major such as chemistry or biochemistry other sciences; and 1 year of experience in research setting or other relevant experience.

* Supervisory or project management experience required.

* Preferred: Significant experience in research coordination in academic or corporate setting OR completion of a master's degree or PhD studies

The target hiring range for this position will be between $49,850 to $70,419 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
