As a Continuation Improvement Specialist, you will be establishing and maintaining a continuous improvement culture in ABB, utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodology and creating transparency to monitor progress. You will be responsible for supporting the Continuous Improvement strategy definition and leading, in a collaborative effort, the implementation of a common approach for continuous improvement within our local ABB organizational unit, including promoting a culture of continuous learning and improving. Mentor and coach teams to achieve operational excellence and drive improved results. Lead projects to improve and sustain local business performance in terms of Internal and external Quality, Productivity, Efficiency and Profitability. Your duties will support our NAM (North America) Electrification Distribution Solutions Operation in Pinetops, North Carolina for Product Groups 3401, 3406, 3407 and 3408 by participating and leading the analysis of "as is" processes, by assessing and understanding customers needs, by acknowledging our internal capabilities or weaknesses to then identify improvement opportunities in collaboration with other functional areas to define and implement measurable and sustained improvements in People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory and/or Cost targets and meeting customer and stakeholder expectations. This position is required to be 100% onsite in Pinetops, NC.

Your responsibilities

  • Support the deployment of a common approach for continuous improvement and strategy deployment
  • Promotes local management awareness and commitment related to Continuous Improvement throughout the organization
  • Coaches company professionals in their development journey as a continuous improvement advocate, such as Lean Six Sigma belts or equivalent
  • Works in cross functional teams to execute the strategy and escalate as necessary to remove roadblocks that slow or prevent the successful implementation and adoption of continuous improvement initiatives, helps facilitating in cases of conflicting priorities
  • Promotes and leads improvement programs and projects within the scope of responsibility, with a hands on (Gemba) and problem solving approach
  • Understands and promotes behavioral change to continuously improve performance
  • Assists the organization by providing training and coaching to create Continuous Improvement teams that are sustainably staffed and developed
  • Actively promotes a work environment that stimulates talent development, passion for Quality, integrity in all the actions and results orientation
  • Up to 10% domestic travel, limited international may be required
Your background

  • Desirable 1+ years of Continuous Improvement experience within a manufacturing operation with proven record of practical application of lean six sigma tools
  • 2+ years of manufacturing operations experience in production or any supporting function supporting operations.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field of expertise
  • Customer-oriented mindset and excellent leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluent written and spoken communication skills in English
  • Wide understanding of manufacturing business
  • Certified Professional in Lean-Six Sigma would be a plus
  • Sounded knowledge in MS Office-Word, Power Point, Excel-, Outlook and SAP
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP preferred
  • Up to 10% domestic travel, limited international may be required
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States
