Job Description

The Machining Associate I operates CNC machines that manufacture metal parts and materials. The Machining Associate I maintains CNC machines and related equipment to ensure that systems run smoothly with assistance from on-site leadership. The Machining Associate I must have an eye for detail. In addition, they're responsible for escalating issues to the appropriate level if problems arise while operating the machine.

Set up and operate CNC machines (Fadal and Mori Seiki) to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.

  • Set up and operate CNC machines (Fadal and Mori Seiki) to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, milling, etc.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine machine set-up and production methods.
  • Load raw materials and parts onto the machines.
  • Set machines to complete full cycles to fabricate large number of parts.
  • Supervise the machines while tasks are executed and ask site leadership for help to make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result.
  • Inspect parts to ensure they meet quality standards and make necessary adjustments to machine settings.
  • Deburr parts per specification requirements using hand-held power tools.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot CNC machines as needed.
  • Follow established safety and environmental policies, procedures, and methods applicable to the work area.
  • Performs other duties as necessary.

Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience:

  • 1+ years of experience operating CNC machines.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

Skills:

  • Ability to learn skills in operating CNC machinery and tooling as well as precision measurement tools.
  • Ability to learn to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
  • A keen eye for detail and results-driven approach.
  • Ability to work and train from verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Manufacturing experience required.
  • Knowledge of machine set up, computer programming, and CAD/CAM preferred.
  • Familiarity with measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges preferred.
  • Ability to use drill press or additional machines to CNC preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to repetitiously load and unload parts from machinery.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time at a workstation while sitting.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers for detailed work over extended periods of time.

Salary Range: $17.00 - $21.50 per hour
