Location: US:WI:MILWAUKEE at our FROEDTERT HOSPITAL facility.

This job is ON - SITE - Travel is required to support the Froedtert Health system

FTE: 1.000000

Shift: 1st shift 8 am to 4:30 pm with flexibility and a weekend rotation every 4th week.

Job Summary:
To facilitate culturally and linguistically competent communication between individuals with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) and medical providers in a manner that promotes patient safety and confidentiality. Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:

A minimum of one year of experience in providing medical interpreting in English and Spanish.

Three years of directly related experience.

Experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:

High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Associate Degree or Bachelor Degree in related field preferred.

Professional Medical Interpreter Program preferred.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Must be bilingual in English and language to be interpreted,.

Solid knowledge of medical terminology and competence in communicating the meaning of terms.

Strong ability to interpret diagnostic processes, treatments, procedures, preventive care, and be culturally competent

Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with patients, their families and health care providers.

Ability to perform under stressful situations and medical emergencies.

Ability to produce written translation of material, such as: various forms, documents, patient letters and other material.

SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:

Formal interpreter training preferred.

40-hour medical interpretation training program preferred.

CCHI or NBCMI Certification preferred.

LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:

Valid Wisconsin Drivers Licenses required.
