Job Description

Position Description:

Join our dynamic team at MCW (Medical College of Wisconsin) as a Building Systems Maintenance Technician. In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of mechanical systems within MCW buildings. Under supervision, you will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair various building systems. This position requires a hands-on approach to ensure the proper functioning of HVAC and other Research Building mechanical systems.

Primary Functions:

  • Assist or independently perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot, and repair multiple building systems.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of equipment, applying basic troubleshooting skills to address minor system malfunctions.
  • Perform repair or replacement of components such as fan and pump motors, pumps, seals, bearings, sinks, toilets, pneumatic controllers, pneumatic-electric transducers, backflow preventers, refrigeration devices, and automatic systems.
  • Undertake small projects like installing natural gas, air and vacuum system piping to fume hoods, and participate in the shutdown of heating and cooling systems for maintenance or repair.
  • Prepare systems for contractor work, including draining and filling fire sprinkler systems, and complete or partial shutdowns of HVAC systems.
  • Access Building Automation, Phoenix Control, and Fire systems for minor software adjustments and monitoring, completing necessary forms.
  • Pursue continuous educational training or certification as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Knowledge - Skills - Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safety practices, emergency procedures, operations and maintenance, risk management, planning, and evaluation.
  • Strong task management, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
