We are seeking an Engineering Manager for Battery Management Systems to join the Generac team and contribute to our continued growth and transformation as a leading energy technologies provider! This is a key leadership role that will support our commitment to create better energy solutions for our customers. The position is eligible for relocation and is based in our Headquarters in Waukesha, WI, located between Madison and Milwaukee.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Manage and grow a high-performing team of engineers specializing in the full development cycle of Generac's battery management systems.
  • Define a portfolio and execution plan for battery management development projects and improvement projects; support with appropriate analyses (e.g, RoI, revenue impact, budget analysis, etc).
  • Drive the architecture, implementation, and validation of battery management systems.
  • Evaluate and negotiate product/solution requirements; assimilate with Core bms platform strategy; and ensure the team's work is aligned.
  • Enable a culture that fosters a positive employee work environment and embraces an open exchange ideas and viewpoints.
  • Work with employees to help them achieve their full potential at Generac; recognize employee contributions and reward outstanding contributions.
  • Identify and anticipate resource conflicts and workflow conflicts, work to resolve them constructively.
  • Support financial discipline; plan and organize budgets to support strategic initiatives.
  • Most importantly, develop innovative technology, tackle difficult problems, and help deliver world-class energy solutions to our customers!

Minimal Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or Physics.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • 5 years managing a team.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in Engineering.
  • Prior experience as a tech lead delivering high-tech hardware & firmware solutions.
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of power electronics hardware, semiconductor power devices, and advanced digital control systems.
  • Understanding of test and verification methods for release of production ready solutions.
  • Experience with designing to meet agency compliance such as UL, CSA, NEC, CE, FCC, NFPA and EPA.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion, the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific conditions of this job include are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
