Assistant Director, Strategic Engagement

Client Advocacy is seeking an Assistant Director, Strategic Engagement. This individual contributor (IC) will facilitate communications across the client advocacy business ensuring the communication around the near-term delivery is connecting into the long-term vision and across enterprise partner strategies and experience insights. Reporting to the Sr Director, Business Ops Strategy & Planning / Chief of Staff, this role will synthesize and relate complex information, analyze communications problems and opportunities, and develop and implement integrated communications strategies for both field and employee audiences.


Accountabilities

Prioritizes messages and methods/ channels/technologies for delivering them and oversees tracking of success metrics.

Facilitates dialogue with department executives to successfully communicate department priorities and strategies in support of the function and enterprise strategies.

Develops executive-level communication.

Drives initiative-taking, rapid response to time-sensitive issues.

Coordinates planning and programs for key meetings and engagement events.

Go-to person and subject matter expert in the discipline of communications.

Supports the department planning and measurement process to drive achievement of department goals, establishes, and facilitates quarterly reviews of the department's strategic plan and progress.

Summarizes information on user-friendly deliverables that present and explain the data research and its impact in driving desired results for the company.

Requires a bachelor's degree and 7 + years of experience in professional corporate communications, organizational communications, integrated communications and/or public relations in corporate or agency setting.

Ability to listen to, engage, and influence clients; synthesize and relate complex information; analyze communications problems and opportunities; and develop and implement integrated communications strategies.

Comfortable receiving and analyzing feedback from multiple stakeholders.

Strong negotiation skills.

Comfortable working in ambiguous situations and pivoting when necessary. Understanding of the financial services industry

Ability to create strategic narrative.

Persuasive communication skills with ability to influence across boundaries and build strong partnerships within the function and across the enterprise.

Ability to deal with ambiguity and provide innovative solutions to complex problems.

Compensation Range:

Pay Range - Start:

$90,930.00

Pay Range - End:

$168,870.00

Northwestern Mutual pays on a geographic-specific salary structure and placement in the salary range for this position will be determined by a number of factors including the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; the scope, complexity as well as the cost of labor in the market; and other conditions of employment. At Northwestern Mutual, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. Positions in certain locations (such as California) may provide an increase on the standard pay structure based on the location.
