Position Summary: The Scheduler position is in Central Scheduling but works very closely with all other areas in PFS. Schedulers are responsible for verifying all orders are complete prior to scheduling the patient, scheduling the procedure, obtaining patient demographics and insurance information, verifying benefits and eligibility, verifying authorization status and or obtaining authorization and pre-registration.

Shifts vary by area and are scheduled based on the needs of the department: Monday - Friday, five days per week: 5:30AM-2:00PM, 8:00AM-4:30PM, 8:30-5:00PM

This is a fast-paced department that requires excellent customer service and communication skills along with multitasking. Average 1800 incoming faxes per month, and 1500 calls per month. The PFS department averages 3,725 registrations per month.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Scheduling tests and procedures

* Entering orders into the hospital information system

* Pre-registering patients and preparing packets for the next day

* Obtaining physician's orders and needed referrals on all scheduled procedures prior to date of service

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Prior experience with: Appointment Scheduling, Admitting/Registration Functions, Insurance Verification, Up Front Cash Collections. Requires an individual who can stay calm and focused while working in a fast-paced environment.

PFS is responsible for the first and last impressions of NNRH on our patients. We take pride in creating a positive patient experience by scheduling patients timely and providing accurate information so that they can be registered quickly and accurately.
