Come join Waukesha County's Fox Brook Park Lifeguard Team!
Fox Brook Park is located at 2925 N. Barker Road, Brookfield

Qualified candidates:
  • must be 16 years old by May 22, 2024;
  • possess current Lifeguard Certification* including CPR/AED/First Aid through the American Red Cross, YMCA or Ellis Certification;
  • be available to work varying shifts, including weekends, a minimum of 20 hours per week (up to 40 hours per week if desired); and,
  • Possess:
    • Good customer service skills.
    • Ability to use good judgment and to respond quickly.
    • Ability to work well as a team and maintain a good working relationship with co-workers, supervisors, other County Park personnel and the public.
    • Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
    • Ability to work under stress and handle stressful situations.
Lifeguard Staffing hours are anticipated to be Monday through Friday from 10am-5pm, and Sat/Sun from 10am-7pm. Staffing starts June 4th. (Additional hours expected for mandatory in-service training sessions before and/or after beach hours.)
  • Staff pre-season training and orientation begins Wednesday, May 25th.

Prior to hiring, the final candidate is required to pass work/education/certification reference(s) and where applicable, a criminal background and driver's license check.

*If positions are not filled by applicants who are Lifeguard Certified, the Park System will consider offering a free lifeguard certification course prior to the start of the season for any interested candidates not yet certified. Candidates must meet the minimum swimming requirements and have the appropriate availability to be eligible for the free training if offered.

Example of Duties

  • Effectively convey rules and expectations to beach patrons consistent with County policies and procedures and positively reinforce behaviors.
  • Be prepared to react in an emergency situation and become familiar with emergency action plans.
  • Attend all in-service training programs and be aware of all facility policies and procedures.
  • Inspect beach area prior to and after the completion of patron use to minimize and eliminate hazards.
  • Ensure all emergency equipment is readily available and the beach area is safe.
  • Complete required reports and records as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

You must meet these minimum Training and Experience requirements:

  • Eighth grade education.
  • Lifeguard Training Certification required, including CPR-Pro and AED.
    • NOTE: if you are currently enrolled in class, we will accept your application, but you must provide your class and Instructor name.
