Position Summary: Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital is looking for a per diem, or as-needed, remote coder. The successful candidate must be able to assign appropriate ICD-10, DRG, and other relevant codes to medical procedures and diagnosis. Must be able to stay updated on changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations, such as ICD-10 Official Coding Guidelines for Coding and Reporting and AHA Coding Clinic, HCPCS/CPT coding systems and CPT Assistant and Coding Clinic for HCPSC guidelines, Medicare Prospective Payment Systems (OPPS), and Ambulatory Payment Classifications (APC).

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Skills: Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and 3M, critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently with little to no supervision, ability to prioritize tasks effectively, and ability to communicate with the rest of the team. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and perform efficient time management. Must be able to maintain confidentiality of patient information and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) to five (5) years working as a Coder, preferably for a hospital setting. AHIMA coding certification preferred.
