Position Summary:
Under the direction on the Laboratory Manager the Phlebotomist performs venipuncture for the collection of specimens for laboratory analysis. After additional training and experience, will also perform, arterial and capillary puncture for specimen collection. Must be able to perform specimen collection for patients of all ages (neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics). Provide back up for certain other laboratory personnel, such as clerk/courier, glassware washer and computer operator. All duties are completed by utilizing the Five Pillars (People, Service Excellence, Clinical Excellence, Financial Excellence and Growth).
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
High school graduate or GED.
Graduate from a Phlebotomy Technician Program
Required Certification:
Phlebotomy Technician, Certification (ex. ASCP, NCA, ASPT) preferred
Other:
Successful completion of six months on-the-job training and experience. Previous venipuncture, capillary procedure, and blood gas puncture experience.
