Position Summary: We are looking for a part-time Registered Nurse to work as a Charge Nurse in our busy 15-bed Women's Services Department. Predominately 12-hour shifts, two per week. Though subject to change based on the needs of the department.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Supervises and mentors nursing and support staff during assigned shifts.
* Determines staffing level and assignment based on staff availability, staff abilities, census, patient acuity and work/patient flow.
* Provides direct patient care, and technical aspects of patient care according to established policy & procedure
* Assures the safety and privacy of patients at all times
* Demonstrates accurate interpretation and documentation of fetal monitor tracing
* Safely & successfully places fetal scalp electrode when need identified and appropriate
* Demonstrates skills needed to safely and efficiently prepare patient for C-section
* Demonstrates understanding of physician orders for postpartum pts.
* Identifies changing patient needs and alters nursing care appropriately
* Verbalizes and demonstrates understanding of epidural anesthesia protocol
* Demonstrates effectiveness in assisting during vaginal delivery, including vacuum or forceps delivery
* Communicates effectively with various audiences using the most appropriate method for the situation using briefs, de-briefs, huddles, and rounding as the main source.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate's degree or higher in nursing
Experience: 1-3 years of progressive nursing experience in an acute hospital setting required.
Requirements: Current Nevada RN license. American Heart Association Certifications: BLS upon hire and, ACLS, and Neonatal Resuscitation within 90-days upon hire.
