Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)

Physical Security Advisor collaborate with department leads within Safety, Business Units and Facilities to manage, develop and implement physical security controls, physical security assessments, maintenance of physical security systems, delivery of physical security projects and system installations. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads and participates in physical security project activities including all meetings, reviews and surveys, driving projects to completion. Utilizes In-depth or broad, extensive knowledge.
  • Highly skilled professional with wide-ranging, advanced technical experience to resolve complex issues. Coordinates work of professionals, technicians, and others outside of own department. Acts as liaison with departmental staff and other business unit staff to ensure compliance with and executes documentation in support of NERC CIP, TSA, PCI:DSS and Safety and relevant compliance requirements.
  • Competent to work at very high level in multiple knowledge areas or functions as an advanced contributor. Serves as project/technical lead on medium to large projects; responsible for oversight and execution of projects
  • Makes decisions on complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation on physical security issues, alarm problems and closed-circuit TV concerns, and business unit leadership as well as HR/Legal with the review of CCTV video and images for investigation purposes of variable factors. Independently selects methods, techniques, analytical approach, and evaluation criteria
  • Architects full design of physical security systems and their architecture
  • Administer the card access system, including performing monthly or quarterly audits to ensure compliance with set standards and procedures
  • Meets regularly with suppliers of Physical Security equipment and technology for roadmap planning and technical design updates
  • Supports a 24X7physical security incident response responsibility
  • Trains and mentors others in facilities management with training Floor Wardens in emergency procedures and during the annual earthquake and fire evacuation drills.
  • Coordinates with vendors and facilities management on service requests and new installations at all locations within assigned area of responsibility.
  • Conducts site vulnerability risk assessments and business impact risk assessments for various departments and functions, analyzing potential business impact of unpredictable business interruptions related to physical security.
  • Supports both internal and external (CPUC, TSA, NERC CIP) audits and drives to resolution findings
  • Maintains physical security standards, processes and site plans associated with company facilities
  • Collaborates with the Physical Security team to solve problems with all moderate to complex security matters.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree (or higher) in Business, Criminal Justice, Legal or Information Systems
  • In-depth experience across knowledge areas and multiple functions including project management; typically requires 10+ years in area of specialization.
  • Travel 25%
  • Knowledge of security access control systems, alarm and monitoring systems, and closed-circuit television systems, including Digital Video Recorders
  • Knowledge of NERC CIP, TSA, PCI:DSS and Safety and relevant compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of alarm monitoring, video monitoring and card access control computer applications, specifically Lenel and other leading technology providers and the hardware and software associated with these systems.
  • Experience in Physical Security standards and applicable requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with law enforcement and other agencies during emergency situations.
  • Ability to communicate with department stakeholders regarding physical security processes, design of facilities and general awareness.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills to be able to provide comprehensive written updates and reports.
  • Analytical skills for problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects that are on set deadlines.
  • Interpersonal skills to be able to work with various business lines and vendors.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office suite, Excel, PowerPoint preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate with others to support Business Continuity leadership during an emergency.
