Summary:

Under the supervision of the Team Leader/General Manager, a Finishing Technician requires manual dexterity and is responsible for grinding, honing, lapping manufactured parts to remove excess materials or burrs from internal or external surfaces. Work is subject to inspection and check.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use of microscopes 100% of day.
  • Select wheels, dressing and abrasives best suited for type of job.
  • Apply and manipulate work to wheels exercising proper pressure and duration to maintain contours, relative shape, and close dimensions.
  • Adjust and change machine tools to ensure deburring meets company/customer specifications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to read and understand a Process Control Document (PCD).
  • Knowledge of deburring fundamentals and procedures to include grinding, sanding, or polishing using hand tools or hand-held tools.

Education and/or Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to clearly see through a microscope 100% of workday.
  • Ability to sit 100% of workday; may occasionally need to stand, bend or twist.
  • Ability to lift and work with up to 25 pounds intermittently.
  • Manual dexterity is required to handle small parts and tooling.
