Position Summary:
- Performs routine daily assignments including: patient census, stocking rooms, collecting wheelchairs and IV pumps, culture follow-up and equipment safety checks.
- Processes orders per policy and procedure.
- Communicates diagnostic results to physician or appropriate charts in a timely manner.
- Answers EMS radio.
- Obtains previous patient medical records when requested by physician.
- Collects and handles specimens including: blood, urine, stool, sputum and product of conception as ordered by the physician.
- Assists physician with various exams and procedures including: EENT, GYN, EKG, ECG, suture repair, lumbar puncture, IV starts, casting, irrigations, etc.
- Transports patients using good body mechanics while lifting/supporting patients, properly utilizing wheelchairs, stretchers and ambulatory assistance.
- Utilizes sterile technique with setting up procedure trays, wound/burn care, insertion of urinary catheters and obtaining urine samples from existing foley caths and removing IVs.
- Assists in monitor room.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma Required
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 14 days of hire]
3 month to 1 year in a clinical field preferred.
Patient care experience preferred.
