Accounting Manager:

The Accounting Manager for Transportation Accounting is responsible for monitoring of the Transportation Management System (TMS) and recording all private fleet and common carrier expenses in the North American operating companies. This position supervises staff accountants that handle the transactional activities and ensure work is completed in a timely and accurate manner. The manager will also work closely with both Finance and Operations management. Additional duties include preparing month end analytics and reporting, reviewing balance sheet account reconciliations, and assisting with reporting and audit requests. The role requires an individual with strong attention to detail, an ability to identify issues and recommend solutions and experience managing a staff accounting team. This position will be located in Dublin, OH and operates on a hybrid schedule.

What You'll Do:

Assure that accounting records are prepared and maintained in accordance with U.S. GAAP, following the organization's accounting policies, chart of accounts and related accounting principles and practices and that subordinate ledgers reconcile with the general ledger

Collaborates with management to develop schedules, procedures and systems to enable the timely and informative accumulation, adjustment and reporting of financial data

Manage month-end close duties, including but not limited to calculating and recording monthly accrued expenses for all transportation cost centers and coordinating with departments to determine that all costs have been included

Review and analyze monthly transportation costs and prepare monthly flux reports versus prior periods

Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and report on fluctuations over various time periods

Assist with review and explanations of fluctuations in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results

Coordinate with Financial Planning & Analysis group to explain variances between forecast and actuals.

Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting packages for departments and management, including variance analysis and explanations

Prepare and/or approve schedules for quarterly reviews and annual audits

Develop, implement, and maintain systems, procedures, and policies to ensure adherence to company guidelines

Accountable for ensuring and maintaining compliance with the requirements of Sarbanes-Oxley for areas of responsibility

Provide accounting assistance to project managers and operations staff; respond to financial questions and/or concerns to meet business needs

Completion of ad hoc financial analysis requested by management

Oversee and manage a team of accountants and provide development as needed

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance,CPA or MBA preferred
  • 7 years or more of accounting experience to include P&L and Balance Sheet analytics and flux reporting
  • Knowledge of US GAAP is required
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to effectively communicate with varying levels of management
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to work, take ownership, and succeed in a rapidly changing environment
  • Previous management experience required
  • Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables and VLOOKUP)
  • Proficiency with SAP is preferred
  • Blackline Account Reconciliation
