Position Description:

The description of the student's position is:

Under direct supervision of the principal investigator and other senior investigators in the team, perform critical experiments to advance knowledge in the field of cardiovascular physiology and neuroscience. The student will also contribute to the basic laboratory operations. This includes sterilizing material and glassware for use in research lab. Making and supplying media buggers and reagents. Assist in organizing and set up lab supplies and equipment for individual research investigators. The student will be involved in several experiments including cultured cells and performing studies to test drugs and viral vectors in vitro, performing molecular assays including PCR, western blotting, ELISA and other 'omics'-based assays. Other experiments involved processing histological samples, performing immunohistological staining or in situ hybridization and taking pictures under the fluorescent and/or confocal microscope The student will assist the PI and other lab members in executing experiments involving animals. This includes the maintenance and transporting the animal cages, providing food and involving animals, collecting blood and tissues, administering drugs through different routes, and measuring physiological parameters including but not limited to body weight, body composition, cardiovascular parameters such as blood pressure. Finally, the student will be involved in data analysis and elaboration of graphs and tables to present in national meetings. Her/his routine participation in meetings with the principal investigator and research staff and evaluate/interpret the validity of data is expected.


Preferred Schedule:
Monday-Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
