What You Will Do:

The Software Applications Engineering Manager will manage a group of systems and software engineers focusing on Cockpit Display Systems, Navigation/Inertial systems, and Flight Management System related products. Under the direction of the Senior Applications Manager, the Applications Manager provides leadership and daily supervision to an Applications team that is responsible for new projects, maintenance, and modification of legacy products. The Manager will lead/guide engineers and enforce the compliance to process objectives for safety and non-safety critical products.

How You Will Do It:

  • Develop personnel by assessing individuals' strengths & weaknesses, providing mentoring/training, setting and reviewing personal goals, and writing/conducting performance reviews
  • Work with the Senior Applications Manager to establish and improve department processes
  • Provide guidance/direction related to achieving the best solution for assigned Project tasks that the team is working.
  • Provide direction and oversight to local and remote staff performing Systems/Software Engineering and Systems/Software Team Leadership activities
  • Work with the Senior Applications Manager to plan department budgets, schedules, and staffing
  • Some domestic and international travel required.

What We Look For:

Required

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering or Computer Science required; Masters or MBA preferred.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • 10+ years (5+ with MS) experience in engineering or engineering leadership. Preferred experience in Systems or Software engineering within a safety-critical industry and/or aviation-embedded systems.
  • High level of experience with the following key areas of Systems/Software Engineering:
    • Capturing and managing requirements from a wide range of sources including customer specifications, industry standards, and regulations
    • Designing System Architecture and Software Architectures/design that satisfy Customer requirements
    • Working with other engineering disciplines to perform Product Integration activities
    • Defining and executing Systems Verification/test campaigns
    • Providing on-site support to test and integrate products with customer systems
  • Ability to foster and demonstrate a cohesive team environment
  • Have an understanding of Agile or similar methodologies
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of processes
  • Willingness to work across department boundaries to accomplish tasks
  • The ability to understand and clearly communicate big - picture technical objectives, priorities, and direction
  • Provide focus and guidance to team members
  • Strong interpersonal skills to address intra- and inter-departmental conflicts that arise
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability for the performance and activities of the department
  • Understanding of aircraft embedded avionics systems with respect to software and system disciplines
  • Experience with systems/software architecture and requirement methodologies and tools required; DOORS experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for DO-178C and ARP4754A
  • Knowledge of Aircraft Systems along with integration activities

Desired

  • Model Based Development (MBD) techniques and methodologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with ANSYS SCADE tools related to MBD
