The North Central TexasEmergency Communications District(NCT9-1-1) is responsible for 40+Emergency Communications Centers (ECC) in 13 countiessurrounding the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.NCT9-1-1 supports these ECCs through maintaining and upgrading 9-1-1 equipment, providing up-to-date mapping information, training the 9-1-1 Telecommunicators, educating the public on the proper use of 9-1-1, and monitoring ECC functionality and compliances.NCT9-1-1 serves a population of 1.9 million and 10,800+ square miles.
Description of the Opportunity:
The purpose of this position is to design, document, implement, maintain, and support the growing 9-1-1 network infrastructure, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), Internet, Intranet, and other wired/wireless voice and data communication systems. This is accomplished by performing complex/detailed analysis on proposed and current network infrastructure; designing and implementing solutions; developing and documenting networking standards and procedures; maintaining network servers, routers, switches and firewalls; coordinating, overseeing, and assisting with the installation of network related hardware and software; providing network related user support; monitoring network performance; and evaluating, selecting, and implementing security tools. This position serves on a team responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available network architectures that meet the objectives and service level agreements (SLAs) of NCT9-1-1.
