About the role:

This is a new role to assist with solution architecture within the Government Solutions business vertical. The solution architect will work with internal and external SME's of individual products/solutions to architect an overall solutions and ensure that induvial product/solution capabilities are properly aligned to deliver the overall solution requirement. This role will have a specific focus on ensuring end to end architecture of a solution is fit for purpose, where that solution architecture may consist of multiple FIS products and 3rd party products.

This role will work across both pre-sales (providing architecture supported as needed) as well as delivery, and within delivery will service enterprise architecture needs both for FIS' own processing services as well as other parties where needed.

The Solution Architect will work with FIS Product teams, FIS Sales/Marketing teams, FIS business/IT teams, FIS Partners and other third parties as needed to understand business problems, requirements and recommend full end to end software solutions.

Types of problems you will solve include:

  • Define and document the end-to-end solution architecture for projects including FIS and client systems, how they interact from a functional and technical perspective.
  • Outlining the functional and technical models of a suite of applications, including client specific applications to determine the best integration and go-to-market strategy.


About the team:
FIS Government Solutions business is the leading provider of business and technology solutions to Health and Human Services departments across 30+ State Agencies in the country. We currently collaborate on critical citizen-support programs like SNAP, TANF, WIC, and Child Care. We are aggressively expanding into other areas of the government with multitude of FIS products and services. We are looking for candidates with strong background in Government market space to join us immediately in the growth and expansion of our Government business.


What you will be doing:

  • Lead brainstorming sessions with clients and FIS teams to identify potential solutions to business problems considering given constraints.
  • Communicate and consult with internal and external FIS stakeholders to develop appropriate solutions focused on the user journey and appropriate data flow.
  • Documents functional solutions for key FIS sales opportunities within the Government Solutions business with a sharp focus of Health and Human Services, Financial Services, Labor and other agencies aligned to FIS services
  • Work with product and delivery teams to document and develop scalable solutions and products.
  • Creates and maintains a catalogue of reusable functional application and solution components consumable across business units.
  • Create Solution Architecture documents that outline the end-to-end solution.
  • Lead, as required, and support the preparation of sales proposals, RFP's, RFI's, and value propositions for multiple, concurrent client engagements.
  • Mentor and coach new resources.
  • Documents and publishes appropriate architecture principles and standards, position papers, blueprints, best practices, patterns and frameworks.
  • Defines, constructs, supports and provides training for enterprise frameworks.

What you will need:

  • Prior experience in Government projects and responding to RFP-based solution requirements
  • Experience working in or with Big 4s in the capacity of solution architecture or solution SME
  • Ability to read government RFPs and distill into smaller packets of overall solution and detailed requirements
  • Proficiency in solutions design and requirements definition disciplines including conceptual solution component models, business process models, use cases, etc.
  • Experience in system and/or solution designs for large integrated IT systems and solutions
  • Experience with distributed systems, databases, modern software application technologies, Transaction Processing, batch processing, reporting systems, data models, data warehouses, modeling tools , customer servicing architectures (telephony systems, network services, web farms, multiple-node systems, etc.), IT architectures, Cloud development,
  • Understanding of case life cycle management, business process management (BPM) and form design including java, HTML, CCS, XML, JSON and Angular preferred.
  • Understanding of Financial, Payment, Health and Human Services industries is a BIG plus
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team and time management skills
  • Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take
  • Ability to estimate work effort for project sub-plans or small projects and ensure the project is successfully completed
  • Ability to present solution and architecture concepts outside realm of immediate workgroup
  • Strong business analysis experience and understanding of the full IT project life cycle from requirements through implementation and go live.
  • Positive outlook, strong work ethic and responsive to internal and external customers and contacts
  • BS in Computer Science or BA in Business or related field required or equivalent work experience.
  • Some travel may be required
