The Position

Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a Finance & Accounting Specialist to join our Waukesha office! Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Finance & Accounting Specialist completes administrative tasks related to the Finance & Accounting Department. The Finance & Accounting Specialist is responsible for processing check requests, performing bank reconciliations, approving expense reports, as well as some additional tasks listed below.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Monitor lockbox and effectively communicate balances with CFO and Director of Accounting
  • Log checks, ACH, and wire receipts and apply cash receipts to related client invoices
  • Communicate cash receipts to billing and collections teams
  • Process transfers between trust and operating accounts
  • Perform bank reconciliations
  • Approve expense reimbursements
  • Approve invoices for payment and process check requests as needed
  • Additional duties and special projects as needed
  • Two-year degree required, accounting or general business degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in an accounting or finance department, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment
  • Experience with 3E - Enterprise Business Management software preferred
  • Experience with Excel and other Microsoft Applications
  • Working knowledge of electronic time and billing software and programs
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Excellent administrative accounting skills
  • Extreme attention to detail and accuracy
  • Superior project management skills to manage deadline-oriented role
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of the firm
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrate "client first" mentality
  • Valid authorization to work in the US
