SUMMARY: The Maintenance associate is responsible for a variety of different tasks including, moving, installation, repairing of equipment, performing preventive maintenance tasks, and building maintenance.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES: This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
  1. Repair and maintain machines, bench and hand powered tools and miscellaneous equipment
  2. Assist Mechanics of higher skill classification in the repair and rebuilding of the more complex and Involved machine and machine tools
  3. Diagnose machine malfunctions and operation difficulties; determine need for repairs procedures and effect repairs and adjustments to keep machines in production.
  4. Scope of work may involve on the spot adjustment; replacement of purchased parts and details involving occasional fitting, simple alignment and temporary improvisation of machinery and equipment.
  5. Layout work and operate woodworking machinery to cut and construct bins, benches partitions, shelves, crates, work platforms, etc.
  6. Repair small motors, pulleys, belts; do pipe fitting, welding incidental to work assignments.
  7. Work from drawings and specifications
  8. Work outside of building as necessary on assignments involving cutting of grass, landscaping, snow removal, painting, etc.
  9. Use scale, calipers, levels, micrometers, indicators, etc. to effect repairs.
  10. Perform continuing assignments in company preventive maintenance program, and routinely oil and lubricate machinery and equipment.
  11. Under general supervision of the Foreman and maintenance mechanic of higher skill classifications, instructions, and guidance provided on many procedural problems or difficulties.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to be successful in this role.
  • Requires knowledge of machining fundamentals
  • Basic operating skills
  • Shop arithmetic
  • Print reading and measuring procedures as is generally acquired through two years of high or vocational school supplemented by on-the-job training
  • One to two years of applied machine shop experience.
