We're looking for a Senior Manager of US Indirect Tax to lead our US Indirect Tax team. You will be responsible for managing sales and use, personal property tax, and commercial rent tax compliance, business license applications and renewals, tax audits, and tax account reconciliations. In this role, you will be expected to conduct tax research and act as a key stakeholder in broader company initiatives such as tax engine implementation, new billing system implementation, and the introduction of new products and business lines.
Oversee our sales and use tax compliance by reviewing returns prepared by external service providers, ensuring payments are made on time.
Respond to tax authority notices and audit inquiries. Assist with the analysis of audit methods and sampling techniques, prepare documentation required, assist with evaluating possible or proposed adjustments, and identify and recommend actions to resolve issues.
Partner with the Business Systems team to complete implementation, currently in progress, of OneSource Tax Engine.
Determine, maintain, and/or review tax requirements, tax classifications, exemptions, rules, rates and tax updates in each of our business systems to ensure usability of systems and data for tax purposes.
Oversee our personal property tax compliance by reviewing returns prepared by external service providers.
Manage and review our commercial rent tax compliance.
Engage with business teams regarding tax requirements for new or existing business activities. Provide tax guidance to influence decisions and involve broader indirect tax team or manager as needed.
Review the reconciliation of our indirect tax accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis.
Review FAS5 reserve computations, as needed.
Monitor changes in laws and rates and stay technically current to support tax requirements for areas of responsibility.
Manage working relationships with internal teams, service providers, and tax authorities regarding tax requirements and issues.
Develop and train junior members of your team.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
CPA or MST preferred but not required
7+ years of relevant experience in state and local indirect tax in a corporate tax department
Strong knowledge of general indirect state tax laws and concepts
Strong Microsoft Office and Google Suite skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Self-motivator and able to work independently
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Works effectively with outside service providers
