Position Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

This position will give the student the opportunity to learn how to leverage data science and clean data to support business decisions. This will provide the intern the opportunity to experience working with a team of professionals using various data reporting tools, as well as be involved in data management in support of business goals. The intern will be mentored by professionals in the Data Information Team and Finance Teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  1. Be exposed to various business challenges that require processing raw data into actionable insights.
  2. Understand the business goals & objectives, translate into business requirements, break it down into manageable use cases.
  3. Continuous engagement with team members and related stakeholders to ensure requirements are understood and executed aligned to expectations.
  4. Understand data sets essential to developing models, visualizations, reports, and insights.
  5. Provide data support for solving data-centric problems including data extraction, cleaning, preparation, analysis, visualization, presentation, and documentation.
  6. Support visualization, reporting and validation of integrity of data.
  7. Learn and use reporting and programming tools including database queries, Excel, Sky Reporting, Power BI and Qlik/Tableau.
  8. Adopt best practices related to data quality, validation, and documentation.

Specifications

Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis

Minimum Required Education:

College student pursuing a Bachelor degree in Data Science, Information Technology Management, Business Analytics, Software Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field from an accredited college or university. Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.

Preferred Experience:

Previouswork or classroom experience in one or more of the following is an added plus:

SQL, Tableau/Qlik, Power BI, Excel, and other data & visualization tools
