Description Yamaha-Kracor has an excellent opportunity for a Production Supervisor to join our facility in Milwaukee, WI. The Production Supervisor will manage off/night shift production in achieving safety, quality, performance and improvement goals. The production supervisor will provide strong leadership to the team, managing according to the established policies and procedures to meet customer specifications and demand. This position reports to the Production Manager.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Ensure the smooth operation of the shift, including all production and support departments, to achieve daily and weekly production targets.
Identify and eliminate waste in the manufacturing processes utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques and best practices for continuous improvement.
Develop and follow a Gemba walk procedure, perform regular daily audits of key processes to ensure optimum process performance.
Respond to production problems to assure a continuing flow of product. Utilize formal problem-solving methodologies to discover and eliminate root cause.
Develop and implement action plans to meet goals in areas of OEE, safety and 5S. Working with employee teams, establish and lead improvement initiatives.
Maintain a safe working environment by working closely with the Safety Committee, addressing safety issues, and implementing solutions.
Maintain team metrics utilizing visual management techniques. Ensure all direct reports understand their metrics and how they impact/improve each metric.
Collaborate with production scheduling to set work priorities to satisfy customer demand.
Train, Mentor, and Coach employees to achieve the shift goals.
Conduct responsibilities in accordance with applicable health, safety, quality and environmental regulations as well as Yamaha’s policies and procedures.
Provide accurate and timely communication to employees, including performance feedback.
Maintain discipline through employee adherence to policies and procedures.
Cultivate a team approach and encourage employee involvement in continuous improvement activities.
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Secondary education/training or equivalent work experience preferred (e.g. Operations, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, etc.).
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership position in a manufacturing environment required.
Experience in lean manufacturing techniques such as 5S or Six Sigma preferred.
Computer proficiency required (Outlook, Microsoft Word & Excel, and any version of MRP/ERP).
Excellent organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills.
Excellent judgment, verbal and written communication skills.
Must be very organized and able to work on multiple tasks and projects at one time.
Must be self-motivated and able to effectively work in a team environment.
Ability to prioritize and perform primary duties with minimal supervision.
