CLIENT ASSOCIATION: International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS) POSITION REPORTS TO: Executive Director POSITION(S) REPORTING TO DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT: Development Manager, Exhibits & Sponsorship Manager STATUS: Exempt (Minimum of 37.5 hours/week)
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Director of Development is responsible for grant/fundraising development for MDS. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, implementation of the Leadership’s goals and objectives; fund development; sponsor and exhibit management for MDS meetings and leveraging opportunities that increase revenue for programs.
Liaise directly with the Executive Director and MDS Leadership to develop fundraising goals and objectives;
Manage relationships with MDS Funding sources, including but not limited to: company research, creation of background materials, and arrangement of individual meetings and industry forums;
Oversee funding for Educational Courses, including communication with Course Directors and Program Managers, negotiations on multi-course sponsorships, and deliverables;
Oversee funding and exhibits for the International and Regional Congresses, including communication with Oversight Committees and Meetings Team, negotiations on sponsorships, and deliverables;
Identify and develop sources of corporate support for MDS programs;
Identify, develop and implement program expansion/leveraging opportunities with funders;
Develop marketing materials, prospectuses, reconciliations and other information related to fund development and program grants;
Supervise the development of systems to ensure maintenance of proposals, agreements, budgets and deliverables;
Establish and maintain comprehensive records pertaining to program grants, including budgets, monies received, and reports due;
Coordinate and produce agendas, background materials, and minutes for all meetings of Committees, as assigned;
Grant research and writing;
Other duties as assigned.
AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED: Approximately 3-4 weeks per year, some international travel may be required; some evening and weekend work may be required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least 3-5 years professional experience in fund development and association management. Skills needed in fundraising, business development, proposal writing, budget planning and management, ability to forge positive interpersonal relationships with prospects and colleagues; Bachelor’s degree. Experience working with nonprofit boards of directors preferred.
