Job Description
Under the general supervision of the Coordinator – Alternative Delivery Systems to setup, operate, trouble-shoot, repair and maintain equipment associated with alternative delivery systems at Milwaukee Area Technical College.  This equipment includes, but is not limited to video systems, audiosystems, teleconferencing, computers, cameras, fax, telephone, VCR, laserdisc players and related equipment.  Assigned location will vary among the four MATC campus locations, the Riverworks Center and the Milwaukee Enterprise Centers.  Other remote distance education receive sites associated with the College may be included.  Assigned hours will require flexibility to provide coverage during course offerings and other College events.  Supervision received is general in nature where standard practices enables employee to perform independently referring unusual situations to the supervisor for decision or advice.

  1. •Setup and ensure proper functioning of alternative delivery equipment at send/receive sites prior to classes, meetings and other MATC events.
  2. •Professionally respond to user routine technical questions about the alternative delivery systems and equipment.
  3. •In conjunction with the Technical Coordinator-Alternative Delivery Systems, install, maintain, trouble-shoot and replace alternative delivery equipment and other technology as assigned.
  4. •Operates/Assist in the operation of alternative delivery technology during meetings and other assigned events.
  5. •Provide support for instructors by distributing learning materials and monitoring tests.
  6. •Setup and breakdown alternative delivery systems that are portable.  Relocate these systems to areas of need.
  7. •Appropriately power-down technology at conclusion of service needs.
  8. •Respond promptly to alternative delivery technical problems.
  9. •In conjunction with the Coordinator of Distance Education and the Technical Coordinator-Alternative Delivery Systems, serve as technical consultant to MATC faculty and staff relative to alternative delivery systems Capabilities and function.
  10. •Operate a variety of equipment including audioamps and recorders, video switchers, video recorders, satellite receiver and tracking systems, computers and character generator equipment.
  11. •Assist in the specification, procurement, inspection, installation and start-up of new equipment as assigned.
  12. •Demonstrate equipment startup and operation as required.
  13. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
 

 

 Qualifications:
  1. Requires 60 approved college credits in an appropriate field;
  2. Associates Degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer Science or related area preferred
  3. One year experience in the setup, maintenance and operation of audio, visual and alternative delivery technology.
  4. Coursework in Electronics Principals and Circuits is desirable.
  5. or any equivalent experience in related fields to meeting above stated qualifications.
