What You Will Do:
  • As an Operations Research Scientist, youwill lead a high-functioning team driving process improvement and optimizationof our seeds product development pipeline, focused on delivering results, drivinginitiatives, identifying opportunities, executing and prioritizing work
  • You will deliver insights and solutionsto improve the speed, efficiency and productivity of our Seeds product developmentpipeline and operations
  • You will work collaboratively acrossour R&D teams to simplify our processes and improve our decision making
  • You will work with R&D teams inoperations, automation and engineering, analytics and data sciences to addressneeds and offer scalable solutions
  • Ability to think systematically, using operations research practices, to understand the product development process, identifying needs to drive efficiencies and operational improvements in Seeds R&D
  • Conduct analysis of big data, applying novel and routine methods to meet team deliverables that include operational improvement, breeding process optimization and improved decision making within our development pipeline
  • Develop and interpret information that assists management with decision making and policy formulation
  • Build and own periodic reporting by taking advantage of our growing amount of data to help stakeholders all over the world manage and improve operations
  • Network and collaboratively work with Seeds R&D to identify opportunities, conduct work and communicate analytical results to develop enhancements to our operations, share key learnings and implement new processes or analytics
  • Contribute to the development of technical training offerings and curricula in support of effective implementation of quantitative methods
  • Perform all activities in accordance with the Syngenta Health, Safety, Environmental Policy, Asset management and Quality Management/Stewardship guidelines

You Have:
  • Master's Degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics,Statistics or related field
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using modeling andsimulation to solve problems
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with statistical methodsapplied to large output data files
  • Experience motivating and leading a skilled analytical team in a fast-paced environment
  • Technical knowledge in modeling, simulation, measuring techniques, mathematics, statistical methods, optimization, engineering methods and operational mathematics techniques
  • Ability to think systematically about operations research as a key business strategy enabler
  • Must be able to independently travel by car or by air to domestic and international locations (Travel requirement 5-10%)
  • Must be able to independently rent a car and legally drive in the U.S. and in foreign countries
You Might Also Have:
  • PhD in Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics, Statisticsor related field
  • Expertise with general machine learning
