Honeywell has an excellent opportunity for a Fire Alarm Technician! The individual will perform installation, emergency repair, testing and start up of fire alarm systems, including technical support across a wide range of electrical and mechanical equipment in the fire alarm industry. This technician will also provide technical support to other technicians as needed. This position is located in the Milwaukee area and will require travel throughout the service area.

Honeywell Building Solutions (HBS) is a strategic business unit in Automation and Control Solutions (ACS). HBS installs and maintains the systems to help keep buildings and facilities safe, secure, comfortable and cost-efficient, and is a leading provider of energy efficiency solutions worldwide. HBS specializes in service of critical building systems, including heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), building automation, fire, security and energy management.

The main function of this position is to commission Honeywell Fire and Security Systems. Typically, these systems are engineered by Honeywell engineers, installed by electrical contractors and then commissioned by the Honeywell field technicians in commercial buildings. The technician will be required to make software modifications as required to meet the specifications. The technician will also be responsible for all associated NFPA paperwork as well as demonstration to the AHJ.

*Installation and commissioning of fire alarm systems in commercial/industrial facilities.
*Responsible for commissioning start-up and checkout systems using the software provided by engineering for large jobs or software possibly written by themselves in small jobs.
*Responsible for complete ownership of project in the field, coordinate with subcontractors/vendors as applicable and work with customers to obtain completion sign-off.
*Assist sales representative with customer's requirements, meetings with customer and evaluating customer site specifics which may include commissioning and troubleshooting multiple projects simultaneously.

Qualified applicants must be willing to:
*Travel throughout the service area with 10-30% overnight stays
*Work with and without direct supervision.
*Able to work flexible hours to accommodate to the client needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • NICET Level II Fire Alarm Certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire alarm service or installation.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Fire and Security systems operation and building facilities experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings and diagram.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Strong understanding of computers and computer networking.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and get things done.
  • Communication skills sufficient to deal with co-workers, customers, AHJ's and contractors.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to work independently and accomplish all commissioning.
  • EST and/or Notifier programming experience would be preferred.
