Job Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for developing and coordinating the building of
manufacturing systems for Modine plant operations.  The manufacturing engineer designs, validates and implements manufacturing solutions that meet the product requirements and manufacturing goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position reports to the Manufacturing Engineering manager.  The principal activities of the manufacturing engineer involve projects related to tube mill design and tooling. The individual will be responsible for the development of technologically advanced, next generation equipment. This equipment may be stand alone, or be integrated into a large manufacturing cell. The manufacturing engineer works with personnel from Modine plants, Estimating, Manufacturing, Product Development, Purchasing, Sample Shops, outside suppliers, and other contracted services.
 
  • The manufacturing engineer investigates process and /or equipment problems at various Modine locations and is responsible for recommending solutions. The manufacturing engineer may also test new machine processes at outside suppliers.
 
  • The manufacturing engineer will write machinery specifications for equipment to be designed and built either internally or at an outside supplier. The manufacturing engineer will be responsible for the startup, qualification, acceptance, and safety compliance of this equipment prior to production use.
 
  • The manufacturing engineer will support programs for tooling development, replacement and process improvements to ensure machines meet OEE targets and quality metrics for  qualified components.
 
  • The manufacturing engineer make recommendations to maintain Global Process/Global Design specifications that controls equipment and tooling specifications.
 
  • The manufacturing engineer will coordinate the installation of manufacturing equipment at various Modine facilities for responsible projects.
 
  • The manufacturing engineer will be expected to use CAD to develop and design tooling and equipment concepts that will aid in design of new tooling and equipment.  Ability to learn and apply GD&T to prints will be required.
 
  • The manufacturing engineer will be responsible for tracking responsible projects to ensure timely completion, meeting cost targets and communicating to the end customer.
 
  • The manufacturing engineer will provide technical assistance to Modine business units, including machine operator training at the plant level for responsible equipment.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge and experience with manufacturing equipment and tooling
  • Experienced with CAD systems
  • Experience with Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) in support of launching projects
  • Ability to work in a team environment to further the advancement of Modine equipment an processes
  • Willingness to travel globally to Modine locations and suppliers

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering degree with 2-5 years of experience

TRAVEL:
  • Travel to various plants (some international), suppliers, and training seminars is required (approx. 10-20%)
